Veterinary care with hometown heart.
R Veterinary is an independent, family-owned veterinary group serving communities across Missouri. We believe great veterinary care should feel personal, accessible, and rooted in the communities we call home while creating a place where veterinary professionals can grow, belong, and build meaningful careers.
Four values. One PACK.
At R Veterinary, our values are more than words on a wall. They guide how we care for pets, support families, treat one another, and continue growing. Our PACK is simple enough to remember on the busiest day, because that is exactly when values matter most: Personal, Advocate, Compassion, and Keep Growing.
When you're unsure, ask: Personal Hometown heart, always. We protect the relationships, history, and personality that make every clinic special and show up for our communities as neighbors first. Advocate Care without pressure. We educate, listen, and guide so families can make informed decisions for their pets without fear, guilt, or pressure. Compassion For every pet and every person. We believe pets, pet parents, and teammates deserve patience, kindness, and care that respects their individual needs. Keep Growing In medicine, in people, and as a company. We invest in learning, mentorship, leadership, and continued growth because better medicine and stronger people help communities thrive.
The good stuff, in plain terms
A career at R Veterinary is built around more than the position you hold today. We invest in mentorship, professional development, benefits, leadership opportunities, and a culture where people are known, valued, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Where we call home
See them allQuestions about working here
What is it like to work at R Veterinary?
R Veterinary is built around compassionate veterinary medicine, professional growth, and teams that support one another. We believe people should be known, valued, supported, and given opportunities to grow throughout their careers.
Is R Veterinary independently owned?
Yes. R Veterinary is 100% family-owned and independent. Major decisions are made by owners who work in the organization, know the clinics, and are invested in the communities R Veterinary serves.
What are the values at R Veterinary?
Our four core values are the PACK: Personal, Advocate, Compassion, and Keep Growing. These values guide how we care for pets and families, support our teammates, and continue improving our medicine and organization.
Does R Veterinary offer opportunities for career growth?
Yes. R Veterinary believes professional growth should continue throughout a career. Opportunities may include mentorship, continuing education, leadership development, hands-on learning, and pathways to take on new responsibilities.
Does R Veterinary offer opportunities for veterinary students?
Yes. R Veterinary offers opportunities for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience, learn alongside veterinary professionals, and build relationships with mentors.
What does “Care Without Pressure” mean?
We believe pet families deserve honest information, clear options, and respect for their individual circumstances. Our role is to educate, listen, and advocate for pets and families — not use fear, guilt, or pressure to influence decisions.
Your future in veterinary medicine starts with hands-on experience.
At R Veterinary, we believe the best learning happens close to the work. Students have opportunities to learn alongside experienced veterinary professionals, build confidence through real-world experience, and explore what a meaningful career in independent veterinary medicine can look like.
Thinking about folding your clinic into R Veterinary?
This part is not about a job — it is for owners weighing their clinic’s next chapter. Here is exactly how partnering with R Veterinary works, on a timeline measured in years, not weeks.
You talk with an owner, not a broker. Confidential, and there is no obligation on either side.
Who this is built for: one- to three-doctor practices in small-town and rural Missouri — the clinics that hold a community together and have the hardest time hiring, buying well, and covering a weekend. Larger practices are not excluded and the conversation is still worth having; everything below is simply designed around the small ones.
Have a conversation
A confidential, no-obligation chat about your clinic, your team, and what you want your next chapter to look like. Nothing goes any further without your say-so.
Protect what you built. Grow what comes next.
Your clinic’s story matters. We keep the culture, the relationships, and the medicine that built your success, and add the buying power, staffing, and back office of a group.
Grow together
You keep practicing while we take on the back office. Most owners stay on — often for years — and finally enjoy the work again.
About the name — we are not going to tell you nothing changes. Your clinic becomes “R Veterinary at [your clinic name]”. The name your clients have trusted for years stays where they look for it, with ours beside it so no one feels misled about who is behind the practice now. The hybrid is deliberate: honest with your clients, and it protects the reputation you spent a career building.
Nobody hands over the keys on day one. A partnership here normally runs on a three- to five-year ramp, and you set the pace on it.
Nothing changes for your clients
Same team, same phone number, same exam rooms, same medicine. Behind the scenes we take over payroll, HR, benefits, insurance, purchasing, and the compliance paperwork. You keep seeing patients.
The back office comes off your desk
Vendor pricing, inventory, scheduling support, marketing, and the books move to our team. Relief coverage gets built into the schedule so you can take a real week off — for a lot of owners, the first one in years.
Depth on the schedule
We recruit alongside you: another DVM, or the technician bench that means you are no longer the only person who can do the hard thing. Your hours turn into a choice instead of a requirement.
Your call, on your timeline
Keep practicing at the pace you like, cut back to relief days, or step away entirely knowing your team, your clients, and your name are covered. The ramp ends when you decide it does — not on a date somebody else picked.
I own a clinic — what does partnering with R Veterinary look like?
You keep your team and your medical autonomy, and your clinic’s name carries forward inside the new one — “R Veterinary at [your clinic name]”. We take on payroll, HR, marketing, procurement, and the back office. Most owners stay on and keep practicing.
Will my staff keep their jobs if I partner with you?
Yes. Keeping your team intact is the whole point — your people, your patients, and your community continuity are what make a partnership work in the first place.
How long does a clinic transition take?
Two different clocks. The operational handoff — payroll, purchasing, systems — is typically 60–90 days from a signed agreement, at a pace that never interrupts day-to-day care. Your own transition is the longer one: most owners ramp down over three to five years, and how fast is up to you.
Do you only want small practices?
We are designed around one- to three-doctor rural and small-town clinics, because that is where group support changes the most. Larger practices are not excluded — the conversation just starts differently.
